THE POWER OF JOURNALING AND HOW THIS CAN IMPACT POSITIVELY ON YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING

I'm going to let you into something that used to be a secret but its not so much anymore.  Shall we delve into what I'm talking about, well you probably already guessed from the title, but let's discuss journaling and why this simple daily step can help you.

If you are not familiar with what journaling is,  il fill you in very quickly.  Journaling in simple terms is using a diary or a journal and using that to daily write down your thoughts feelings and emotions.

I can already hear the thoughts in your head saying "why would I write down how i feel in a diary or journal"  for one I don't have time for that,  (i see you opening your snapchat) I am too busy in the morning!!  I am anxious enough in the morning,  Right lets wipe away all those reasons why you don't have time and then analyse why making time and journaling can help you.

LETS MAKE SOME TIME

First of all set your alarm 10 to 15 minutes earlier in the mornings that you need to get up.  When your alarms goes off as tempting as it is to hit the snooze don't.  Get up grab a pen and your journal go down stairs and pour your favourite drink. (i'm thinking a  herbal tea or coffee not a pinot grigio.  Put pen to paper and write down how you feel and your emotions.  Journaling can promote positive well being for you and help you align positive thoughts.

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD JOURNAL

* Clear your thoughts and emotions

* Helps to increase your productivity

* Gives you positive momentum

* Helps you manifest your goals

* Allows you to look back for self reflection

Journaling is a positive tool to help you if you are suffering from anxiety and mental health.  Collectively writing down your thoughts is a good way of decluttering your mind and if you are feeling particularly anxious, getting these thoughts down on paper is very beneficial especially if you are used to bottling them up or blurting them out in anger.  This allows you to process your thoughts and emotions in a positive way.  You may find that you will begin to feel less stressed as your emotions will balance as you start to feel calmer.

DIFFERENT WAY'S TO JOURNAL

There is no right or wrong way to journal, my encouragement to you would be just to start.  Honestly this is coming from someone who hates getting up in the morning, needs two large coffees before i can even function and see, but changing my whole mindset and routine has improved my mental wellbeing so much as it will yours.

Types of journaling that you may be interested in and il break that down for you are..

Chose a journal first thats the exciting part you may want one thats dated or undated, i prefer undated because if for any reason i don't fill it in i don't feel guilty for wasting paper, but you may prefer the structure of dates that may work better for you

Keep your journal private, these are your thoughts and your personal space and you deserve that space.

Use that space to write often, the phrase little and often is better than none.

USING YOUR JOURNAL FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Use your journal to write down your thoughts and feelings

Feel your thoughts by releasing negative emotions

Write down mood and honestly answer with how you feel

There is no judgement so let it all out and get that in your journal

Read your thoughts once you have written them down for your self reflection
